Our Gonana Collection offers the first sustainable guesthouse and self-catering properties in Paternoster. With a home-away-from-home feeling and Afro-Scandi design, our Collection offers the perfect hideaways lovingly created by Jonas Sandström, a Swedish entrepreneur who has been running other guesthouses in Cape Town for many years.

AUTHENTICITY AND COMFORT
Travelling is not only discovering new places but also opening your mind to new ideas. For us, tourism is far more than a numbers game, it’s consideration of the space we're in and being kind to the environment. So while travel is good for the mind, body and soul, it is also good for our West Coast surroundings. During renovations of our Collection, we worked with local artisans and builders in the Paternoster community.
EMBRACING LOCAL
Giving back and inclusivity are values that Jonas takes seriously. Having lived in South Africa for 20 years, he is acutely aware of the need to support and promote local products, companies and people. Our Collection’s interiors and supplies are locally produced and all the guesthouse staff reside in the Paternoster area. For Jonas, keeping it local is a lifestyle and the best way to give back in a meaningful way.
ECO-CONSCIOUS AND KIND TO THE ENVIRONMENT
Every effort has been made to be deliberate in addressing our impact on the environment and its surroundings. Hot water from solar power, grey water reticulation systems, rainwater collection tanks, water-saving showers, as well as a robust recycling ethos makes Gonana Paternoster’s first eco-friendly and almost self-sufficient guesthouse aligned with modern sustainability practices.
